Wine is an Open Source implementation of the Windows API on top of X and Unix. You can imagine the Wine as a compatibility layer for running Windows programs. Wine does not require Microsoft Windows, Wine is a completely free alternative implementation of the Windows API consisting of 100% code that is not from Microsoft, however Wine can optionally use native Windows DLLs if they are available. You could say the wine can make you run windows apps on linux. Following the steps of the installation is the use of wine till its usage:

1. Open a terminal and add the repository for wine by typing the following command:
gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
